Food Security and Nutrition

We promote sustainable agriculture and nutrition-sensitive practices to combat hunger and malnutrition:

  • Training farmers in climate-smart agriculture and organic farming
  • Supporting kitchen gardens and nutrition education for families
  • Enhancing food storage, processing, and post-harvest handling
  • Promoting drought-tolerant crops and improved livestock practices

Water Access and Sanitation

Water is life — yet many communities still struggle with access. Caritas Embu addresses this through:

  • Construction of boreholes, rainwater harvesting systems, and community water projects
  • Promotion of WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) practices in schools and households
  • Training communities on water conservation and safe water use
  • Protection and rehabilitation of springs, rivers, and catchment areas

Environmental Conservation

We advocate for the care of creation through practical environmental programs:

  • Tree planting campaigns with schools, parishes, and farmers
  • Promoting the use of clean and renewable energy (e.g. biogas, solar)
  • Conservation agriculture to preserve soil fertility
  • Community awareness on climate change and ecological stewardship
