At Caritas Embu, we are dedicated to building inclusive, equitable, and peaceful communities where everyone has a voice — especially women, youth, and marginalized groups.

We recognize that sustainable development is only possible when gender equity is promoted, young people are empowered, and peaceful coexistence is nurtured. Through our Gender, Youth & Peace program, we work to break cycles of poverty, violence, and inequality by strengthening individual capacities and promoting social justice.

Gender Equality & Women Empowerment

We promote gender equity at all levels of society by:

  • Strengthening the voice and participation of women in leadership and decision-making
  • Combating gender-based violence (GBV) through education, referral networks, and community awareness
  • Supporting women’s economic empowerment through access to finance, skills training, and group savings
  • Promoting equal access to education, health, and legal rights

Youth Empowerment

Youth are at the heart of our vision for a hopeful future. We invest in their growth by:

  • Providing life skills, entrepreneurship training, and vocational education
  • Supporting youth-led groups and innovation hubs for job creation
  • Promoting civic engagement and responsible leadership
  • Addressing challenges like unemployment, drug abuse, and mental health

Peacebuilding & Social Cohesion

Peace is a core value in everything we do. Our initiatives aim to:

  • Mediate and prevent community conflicts and land disputes
  • Promote interfaith and inter-community dialogue
  • Train youth and community leaders in conflict resolution and peacebuilding techniques
  • Encourage inclusive participation in local governance and decision-making processes

Our Impact

Across Embu County, our work has led to increased gender awareness, stronger youth voices in community spaces, and peaceful co-existence across diverse groups. We’ve helped nurture confident women, empowered youth, and resilient communities who are agents of positive change.
