In a historic step toward transformative and coordinated development, the Bishop of Embu Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Peter Kimani Ndung’u, has officially commissioned a 32-member Strategic Management Team tasked with overseeing and accelerating the growth of the Diocese.
The solemn commissioning took place during a Mass celebrated Thursday evening at St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, bringing together clergy, religious leaders, and lay faithful.

A Collaborative Church for the Glory of God
The newly commissioned team is drawn from clergy, religious men and women, and lay professionals, symbolizing the Diocese’s inclusive and consultative leadership approach.
“The team will play a critical role in fostering collaboration among religious men and women, as well as the laity, for the glory of God,” said Bishop Kimani, urging members to embody servant leadership and spiritual accountability.
Leading Strategic Transformation
The team will spearhead the implementation of the Diocese’s Strategic Plan, which outlines key focus areas for the next phase of growth—including:
- Strengthening parish systems and institutions
- Enhancing education and pastoral outreach
- Improving church governance and transparency
- Supporting youth and family ministry
- Driving sustainability through Caritas and social programs
Commissioning With Blessing and Purpose
Led by Rev. Fr. Alex Mati, Director of Caritas Embu, the team received a special blessing from the bishop as a sign of spiritual empowerment and responsibility.
“We are ready to get started and ensure the plan is fully realized,” said Fr. Mati.
“I encourage all members, including those who may join us along the way, to serve selflessly and keep the Diocese’s mission at the center.”
Expected Outcomes
The strategic team will play a key role in:
- Accelerating program implementation across departments
- Ensuring coordinated pastoral and development initiatives
- Monitoring progress of key diocesan priorities
- Building unity and shared vision among institutions and parishes
This move signals the Diocese’s growing emphasis on professionalism, accountability, and mission-driven innovation rooted in faith.
A Church on the Move
