Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Today marks a profound moment of solidarity and compassion for the people of Embu County. Our Lord Bishop has officially launched the Diocese of Embu Emergency Appeal and Contingency Plan in response to the growing human suffering caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, flood disasters, locust invasion, and other emergency situations that continue to affect our communities.

The launch took place at the Caritas Embu offices, where clergy, diocesan staff, Caritas team members, and partners gathered in prayer and purpose to commit ourselves anew to the mission of mercy and service.

Responding to a Humanitarian Crisis

The combined effect of health, environmental, and economic shocks has left many households vulnerable:

  • Families displaced by flash floods
  • Farmers devastated by locusts and unpredictable weather
  • Children lacking basic nutrition and learning resources
  • COVID-19-related illness and loss deepening household burdens

This emergency appeal seeks to mobilize support—material, financial, and spiritual—to serve those most affected within Embu County and beyond.

“When one part of the body suffers, the whole body suffers with it,” remarked the Bishop, quoting 1 Corinthians 12:26 during the event.

What the Appeal Will Support:

🔹 Food distribution to displaced and hunger-stricken households
🔹 Emergency medical and hygiene kits
🔹 Support for affected farmers and livelihoods
🔹 Temporary shelter and WASH interventions
🔹 Spiritual and psychosocial support

Our Call to Action

We invite all parishes, Christian faithful, partners, institutions, and people of goodwill to join this appeal with open hearts. Donations in cash or in-kind can be delivered through:
